About
Akhil Bhartiya Adhivakta Parishad (ABAP) has commenced Online Lecture Series in the name of ‘Professor N. R. Madhava Menon Memorial Lecture Series’.
The lecture will begin by 12 PM on 16th May 2020 (Friday).
In this online series,
- 1st Lecture was delivered by Mr. K.K. Venugopal, Sr. Advocate, Attorney General for India on the topic of “Contours of Judicial Review on 08th May 2020. Before the Lecture of Mr. K.K. Venugopal Prof C. Raj Kumar, Vice-Chancellor of O.P. Jindal University had delivered the welcome address.
- Dattopant Thengadi Lecture Series: In order to utilize this lockdown period and for the benefit of lawyers, initially Akhil Bhartiya Adhivakta Parishad organized an ‘Online Lecture Series’ in the name of Dattopant Thengadi Lecture Series (from 20th April 2020 to 2nd May 2020) prior to present Prof. Menon Series.

About the Speakers
Mr. Mukul Rohatgi, Senior Advocate and Former Attorney General for India will be delivering his Lecture as Keynote speaker on the topic of Journey of Supreme Court from 1950 till now.
About Professor N. R. Madhava Menon
Present Lecture Series is being organized by ABAP in the memory and honor of Mr. Menon who is called the father of modern legal education in India. Contribution and dedication of Prof. Menon to mainstream legal education in India has been unparalleled.
The lecture series is an attempt to initiate discussions to stimulate and sustain the attitude of learning and gaining legal knowledge through various eminent jurists and speakers. Mr. Menon has also been awarded with Padma Bhushan.
Shri Neelakanta Ramakrishna Madhava Menon (4 May 1935 – 8 May 2019) was an Indian civil servant, lawyer and legal educator. He was the founder-director of the National Law School of India University (NLSIU) and the National Judicial Academy, Bhopal and the founder-vice-chancellor of the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (NUJS).
He also served as Chairman of Indian Statistical Institute from 2002 to 2003. Menon was awarded the Padma Shri in 2003 and Padma Bhushan in 2020 by the Government of India.
