Supreme Court has rejected the candidature of 11 lawyers for judgeship of the Allahabad High Court
The Supreme Court collegium, headed by Chief Justice of India has rejected the candidature of 11(Eleven) lawyers for judgeship of the Allahabad High Court.
The Collegium also rejected at least half a dozen others from the state judicial service for judgeship of the Allahabad High Court.
The High Court collegium had recommended more than 40 names for elevation, about 30 of them practising lawyers and the rest from the state judicial service, for appointment as judges of the country’s largest High Court.
The approved list includes two Senior Advocates from the Supreme Court, Dinesh Kumar Singh, C.D. Singh and at least 17 other practising lawyers from Allahabad and Lucknow Bars.
Many of the candidates rejected by the Chief Justice of India-headed collegium for the Allahabad High Court are learnt to be relatives of sitting and former judges and some related to politicians.
