Who Is The Organiser?
The Centre for Environmental Law Education, Research and Advocacy (CEERA), National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru. established in 1997 is a research centre that focuses on research and policy advocacy in the field of environmental law. Building an environmental law database, effectively networking among all stakeholders, undertaking training and capacity development exercises, providing consultancy services and building an environmental law community are CEERA’s main objectives. It enjoys the support of the Ministry of Environment Forest and Climate Change, other Ministries, international organisations, the Bar and the Bench in India.
Department of Justice is a part of the Ministry of Law & Justice, Government of India & it is one of the oldest Ministries of the Government of India.The functions of the Department of Justice include the appointment, resignation and removal of the Chief Justice of India, Judges of the Supreme Court of India, Chief Justices and Judges of the High Courts and their service matters. In addition, the Department implements important schemes for Development of Infrastructure Facilities for Judiciary, setting up of Special Courts for speedy trial and disposal of cases of sensitive nature (Fast Track Special Court for cases of rape and POCSO Act), E-court Project on computerization of various courts across the country, legal aid to poor and access to justice, financial assistance to National Judicial Academy for providing training to the Judicial Officers of the country. The functions of Department of Justice are given in Allocation of Business (Rules), 1961.
What Are The Details Of The Event?
- Theme:
- The policy proposal must align with the competition’s theme and focus areas, as outlined in the competition announcement or guidelines.
- Submissions unrelated to the specified theme will not be considered.
- Objective: This event aims to provide a platform for policymakers, innovators, and other interested stakeholders to convene, address and tackle the challenges that the present Aatmanirbhar Bharat scheme entails. We aim that this Competition brings innovative, dynamic and brilliant thinking from diverse backgrounds to tackle the pressing challenges under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat scheme. The Teams are expected to design innovative policy solutions to counter subsisting issues followed by a workshop and roundtable discussion where participants and academicians in the field deliberate on the problem, discuss policy measures, and eventually present a robust framework for the same.
- Structure of the competition: The Policy Hackathon shall be conducted in three stages. The three stages have been incorporated in order to test the analytical and critical abilities of the Teams. The rounds are as follows:
- The First stage requires all participating teams to draft a policy based on the problem statement given at the end of this brochure.
- The Second stage shall be a round table discussion involving Participating Teams and Panelists deliberating on the aspects of the Aatma Nirbhar Bharat scheme of the Government of India. During the second stage discussion round – the Participating Teams shall be open to bringing forth their ideas and have a conclusive discussion with other Team members in light of the Competition.
- Prior to their submission in the Third stage of the Competition – the Teams shall be open to consult experts in this field and finalize their Policy drafts.
- The third stage shall be a Final Policy Draft submission. A Google link for the Final Policy draft submission shall be shared with the Participating Teams.
- The Fourth stage – shall be the Last stage wherein, the Top – 4 Teams shall be shortlisted to present their policy and Two Teams shall be adjudged with the Best Policy and Second-Best Policy Award
- Eligibility: The Policy Hackathon is open to all Colleges/Institutions/Policy Makers/Researchers/Faculties across India. Each participating team shall comprise a maximum of 3 members
- Students currently pursuing 3-year or 5-year LLB courses
- Students pursuing a Master’s degree in law, public policy or any related course
- Public Policy students, Scholars & Researchers
- Management students and academicians
- Academicians in the field of Public Policy
- Experts in the field
- Team Composition:
- 2 members minimum and maximum 3 members.
- Cross-university/institution Participation is allowed.
- Multiple Teams from one institution are allowed.
