The Technolawgy Society, University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES), Dehradun is constituted with an objective to promote and impart knowledge about the increasing Cyber Crimes and issues related to IPR in the digital world. Society works to bring together Science & Law and nurture Techno-Legal professionals. It aims to provide legal acumen with technology at its foundation.
About the event
Technolawgy Society, under the aegis of Vidhiutsav organized by the School of Law, University of Petroleum and Energy Studies, is organizing 2nd Edition of National Patent Drafting Competition which will be held on April 21 & 22, 2022, in virtual mode.
In order to enhance the learning curve, Technolawgy Society has collaborated with Lawctopus law school as Knowledge partners and Lawctopus as media partners for the event.
To enlighten the participants with the minutiae of drafting a patent, the Technolawgy society, UPES will be organizing a webinar session with Patent Attorneys who will guide the participants to draft a patent.

Eligibility
- Each team in the competition shall consist of two (2) members.
- 2 law students can form a team
- 1 engineering student and 1 law student can also form a team
Rules
There will be two rounds in the competition:
Round 1: Participants will receive the description and images of an object/process/technology for which they will have to prepare a complete Patent application with all the necessary details and documentation required. Problem will be released on April 18, 2022 after closing of registrations.
Round 2: Eight (8) shortlisted teams will sit through a quiz, where their knowledge related to patents will be tested.

Awards
- Winning team of the Final Round will get the cash price of INR 5000 & E- Certificate of Merit along with 100% fee waiver in one of Lawctopus Law School’s courses in Patent, Trademark or Copyright.
- Runner-up team of the final round will get a cash prize of INR 3000 & E- Certificate of Merit along with 50% fee waiver in one of Lawctopus Law School’s courses in Patent, Trademark or Copyright
- 2nd Runner- up team of the final round will get a cash prize of INR 2000 & E- Certificate of Merit along with 50% fee waiver in one of Lawctopus Law School’s courses in Patent, Trademark or Copyright
- Top 5 entries will be awarded E- Certificate of Merit
