National Law University Meghalaya was established in 2022 which is one of the India’s premium public Law schools, offering courses at undergraduate and postgraduate Level. It was the first National Law University in Meghalaya.   • Qualifications Of Assistant Professor:
    • PhD has been obtained from a Nationally reputed University/Institute. OR The PhD degree has been obtained from a foreign University/Institution with a ranking among top 500 in the World University Ranking (at any time) by any one of the following:
    • Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) 
    • The Times Higher Education (THE) or
    • The Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University (Shanghai).
    • 60% or 7.00 CGPA in 10 scale or equivalent in the preceding degrees.
    • 3 (Three) years of experience post PhD in a reputed University/Institute.
    • 6 (Six) publications in reputed journals preferably SCOPUS or ABD or Wash – Lee or Scimago Index. 
    • Experience of conducting any funded project (preferably as Principal Investigator or Project Director).
  • Qualifications Of Associate Professor:
  • 60% or 7.00 CGPA in 10 scale or equivalent in the preceding degrees.
    • PhD has been obtained from a Nationally reputed University/Institute. OR The PhD degree has been obtained from a foreign University/Institution with a ranking among top 500 in the World University Ranking (at any time) by any one of the following:
    • Quacquarelli Symonds (QS)
    • The Times Higher Education (THE) or
    • The Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University (Shanghai).
    • 6 (Six) years of experience post PhD in a reputed University/Institute. 
    • 10 (Ten) publications in reputed journals preferably SCOPUS or ABD or Wash – Lee or Scimago Index.
    • Experience of conducting any funded project (preferably as Principal Investigator or Project Director). 
    • Published edited volume or monograph from reputed publisher Nationally/Internationally. 
    • Supervised PhD (preferably two).
  • Domain Expertise for Assistant Professor:
    • Law and Legal Affairs:
      • Contracts: A thorough understanding of Contract Law, including the formation, interpretation,  and enforcement of contractual obligations, along with specialisation in contract management and administration, and adapt in a range of specialised contracts.
        • The ideal candidate should have expertise in Public-Private Partnerships, Concession Agreements, Lease Finance, Financial Mortgages, Power Purchase Agreements, and Airport Lease Agreements. Additionally, proficiency in corporate transaction contracts such as Joint Ventures, Strategic Alliances,Offset Agreements, Acquisitions, and Asset Purchase Agreements is essential. A key skill required is the ability to draft various agreements, ensuring legal precision and enforceability.
        • This role demands a comprehensive understanding of the legal frameworks, negotiation strategies, and compliance requirements pertinent to these specialised contracts, coupled with the capability to impart practical skills and knowledge in these areas.
      • Corporate Law and Governance: The candidate must possess a comprehensive understanding of Corporate Law and Governance, specialising in the intricacies of corporate legal frameworks and governance structures. The candidate needs to understand the group companies comprehensively, including their dynamics, management, and their adherence to regulatory mechanisms. This encompasses knowledge of inter-corporate transactions, conflicts of interest, and the legal implications of group dynamics in corporate decision-making. Expertise in the legal aspects of company transmission is essential, covering the transfer of rights and liabilities in scenarios like mergers, acquisitions, and restructuring. The candidate should be adept at navigating the legal complexities involved in these processes, including due diligence, regulatory approvals, and protecting stakeholder interests.
        • A comprehensive understanding of corporate insolvency is also required. This includes familiarity with insolvency laws, bankruptcy proceedings, debt restructuring, and the rights of creditors and shareholders during insolvency.
        • The role demands an ability to address contemporary challenges in corporate insolvency, emphasising both legal frameworks and practical implications. The ideal candidate will contribute to the field through research, teaching, and policy development, addressing modern corporate law and governance challenges
  • Domain Of Expertise For Associate Professor:
    • Law and Legal Affairs:
      • Criminal Law Expertise in Criminal Law: including but not limited to the study of criminal justice systems, theories of crime and punishment, and contemporary challenges in criminal jurisprudence, is required. This role demands comprehensive expertise in the study of criminal justice systems, encompassing the procedural and substantive aspects of criminal law. Candidates must possess a deep understanding of various theories of crime and punishment, exploring the philosophical, sociological, and psychological underpinnings of criminal behaviour. A significant aspect of this specialization is proficiency in criminology, examining the causes, consequences, and prevention of criminal behaviour. Additionally, knowledge in victimology and forensic analysis is essential, focusing on the study of victims, the impact of crime on individuals and societies, and the role of victim assistance programs.
        • The candidate should also be versed in Police Science, delving into the methodologies and strategies of law enforcement and the challenges faced in modern policing. An understanding of International Criminal Law, including transnational crimes, international criminal tribunals, and the application of international human rights standards in criminal proceedings, is highly desirable.
