The National Company Law Tribunal is an Indian quasi-judicial organisation that hears cases involving Indian corporations. The tribunal was established on 1 June 2016 by the government of India under the Companies Act 2013 and is based on the recommendations of the V. Balakrishna Eradi committee on the legislation relating to insolvency and company winding up.

Concerning the Opportunity

Indian nationals are invited to apply for a position as a Law Research Associate at NCLT on a contract basis.

Engagement Timeline

  • Initially for 1 (one) year, with the possibility of extension based on performance and requirements.
  • The maximum duration of contract employment as a Law Research Associate in the NCLT will not exceed three years.
  • Engagement on a contractual basis is contingent on good performance and can be terminated at any moment by the Tribunal without assigning any cause. A right or claim to regularisation or continuation of service is not conferred by a short-term contractual assignment.
  • They will not be eligible to any type of regular leave other than pro-rata casual leave.

Responsibilities and Roles

  • Law Identification, selection, gathering, and integration of case laws, citations, and court pronouncements relevant to specific proceedings must be the responsibility of the Research Associate attached to the Hon’ble President/Members of NCLT.
  • Sitting in court during the Tribunal’s hearings and taking notes on the arguments
  • Creating an overview of the cases in front of the Tribunal,
  • If requested, assisting in the production of a draft judgement.
  • They will also be in charge of the generation, storage, and quick retrieval of such material as needed, as well as the grouping of comparable items.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Graduates having a minimum aggregate of 50% in their final year LLB test from a recognised university, whether new or experienced.
  • The candidate must be a member of one of the Bar Councils.
  • The candidate’s age must not exceed 30 years as of the closing date for applications, which is November 1, 2021; The candidate must be familiar with computer operation, including extraction of needed information from various search engines/processors such as Manupatra, SCC Online, and others.

Remuneration
The Law Research Associate would be paid a monthly consolidated compensation of Rs. 40,000/-.
He will not be eligible for any DA, HRA, residential housing, or other benefits.

Process of Selection

  • Interviews will be held on Saturday and Sunday in New Delhi to determine the candidates.
  • Questions about the Companies Act of 2013, the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code of 2016, and other relevant associated laws will be asked throughout the interview.
  • Candidates will also be tested on their ability to conduct research on Company Law and Corporate Insolvency Law.
  • Note that there will be no TA/DA for attending the interview.
