NLSIU, Banglore was the first National Law University established in India in 1986. Consequently, the NLSIU was one of the first institutions in the country to introduce the five-year integrated law degree at the undergraduate level with the commencement of the first batch in 1988.The University’s Chancellor is the Chief Justice of India, and the Chairman of the Bar Council of India is the Chairman of the General Council. The University’s Governing bodies include representatives from the Bar Council of India, the Judiciary, the Government of Karnataka, and the Law School faculty. NLSIU has consistently strived to push for a paradigm shift in the field of legal education. 

The Centre for Environmental Law Education, Research and Advocacy (CEERA) established in 1997 is a research centre that focuses on research and policy advocacy in the field of environmental law. Building an environmental law database, effectively networking among all stakeholders, undertaking training and capacity development exercises, providing consultancy services and building an environmental law community are CEERA’s main objectives. It enjoys the support of the Ministry of Environment Forest and Climate Change, other Ministries, international organisations, the Bar and the Bench in India.

This internship would involve focused and in-depth research on the law relating to Environmental Law and Constitution, Multilateral Environmental Agreements, Contractual enforcement, Urban Law and Governance, Water Law, Ground Water and allied areas.

What Are The Details Of The Opportunity?

  • Mode: Offline mode
  • Application Procedure: Candidates need to fill the form with utmost sincerity with all the fields that apply to the candidate applying.
  • Timeline:
  • Applications should reach us at least 20 days prior the first day of the preferred month of internship. For instance, if your proposed date of internship is February 01, 2024, please apply latest by January 10, 2024.
  • The internship application Form shall be open from the first to the tenth day of every month. Shortlisted candidates shall be contacted by the Centre at least 6 days prior to the commencement of the internship programme.
  • Application Process: Only Candidates who have completed the entire Form with the applicable fields applicable to them shall be shortlisted and contacted for the internship programme. CLICK HERE To Apply.
  • Criteria for Internship:
    • Research Intern – Should know how to use Legal Research engines such as SCC Online, Manupatra etc., good drafting and analytical abilities and should be keen to take up research in varied areas of law.
    • Social Media Intern – Should be good in creating social media posts, editing and formatting short and long form videos, knowledge of analytical tools to boost social media outreach and most importantly should have a creative mindset.
    • Content Editor Intern – Should be adept in MS Word – proof-reading, formatting, editingJournals, Magazines, Articles, Newsletters and Blogs. The intern should be flexible to adapt to tailor-made requirements of the Centre’s publications. 
  • Important note:
    • CEERA SHALL NOT ENTERTAIN any internship application sent to its official email address. The ONLY MODE to apply for an internship is via this application Form.
    • Shortlisted candidates shall have to take care of their own food and accommodation. Breakfast and lunch is available at the NLSIU Training Centre at subsidized rates.
