LawOF interviewed Akanksha Singh, Assistant Professor (Law), College Of Legal Studies, UPES, Dehradun.
“A law student cannot stick to a particular concern he has to be an All-rounder. With charismatic personality, good vocabulary, gentle communication skills and the seven lamps of advocacy of which wisdom, honesty, hard work, are few”
LawOF: As being a law teacher, how would you like to introduce yourself to our readers?
Akanksha Singh: Warm Greeting to all the readers. My name is Akanksha Singh, sharing my educational background, I completed my B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) from Law College Dehradun, affiliated to Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University (Central), Srinagar. I have done my LL.M. from National Law University, Jodhpur, Rajasthan with specialisation in Cyber Law and Cyber Security.
LawOF: What inspired you to join law, were you able to satisfy your self-inspiration.
Akanksha Singh: When I stepped into the field of studying law, it was only an option of pursuing a course but gradually I started liking and eventually loving this field. This fondness started increasing even further, when I started scoring the highest marks in the batch. I would say, I am on the journey to satisfy my self-inspiration.
LawOF: How was your law school journey?
Akanksha Singh: My Law school journey was wonderful. I would like to relive the time spent there if I ever get the chance to (on a lighter note). Law school has transformed my personality, my way of thinking, my approach to several issues and ultimately it has helped me in discovering what I like and what I ultimately want to achieve. It filled me with confidence.
LawOF: What are the opportunities that are open today to Law Teachers? How does one grow in this noble profession?
Akanksha Singh: This profession can be called a “pool of opportunities” according to me. A law teacher grows everyday. There are limitless opportunities. Even when a teacher is serving a particular organisation, he is ultimately adding to his own knowledge and experience.
LawOF: What’s the best thing about your job?
Akanksha Singh: The best thing about my job is that I get the opportunity to interact and come across with so many students and the opportunities to learn something new every single day which includes a lot of practical learning which only experience can teach us.
LawOF: According to you what is the importance of Mooting, Publication and Internships in a law student life?
Akanksha Singh: I think all these activities are helpful in improving the different skills in a student. Where mooting gives exposure to the vocal abilities of a student, boosts self confidence in him and the confidence to stand before audience and put forward his thoughts. While publications help in improving his research abilities and internships teach him several new things. But according to me, all these things should be done as according to the interests of a particular student and should not be forced onto him.
LawOF: What is the one thing that keeps you going?
Akanksha Singh: I think my fondness to teach and learn at the same time keeps me going.
LawOF: The best experience and a success habit you would like to share as a student for our readers that would encourage them.
Akanksha Singh: I would ask the readers to always follow their instinct and to do only what they want to do. A person will always achieve whatever he wants to when he gives his heart and soul for that thing, also I would suggest the readers to have a positive and easy attitude considering the increasing number of students going into depression and other disorders by taking too much work pressure.
LawOF: What would you suggest for the students who are new to the law profession and those who are graduating?
Akanksha Singh: Visit LawOF website regularly, to explore what you can do next. Remove the word stress from your dictionary and set a goal and keep working hard to achieve that goal.
LawOF: How do you measure the success of any person in their career?
Akanksha Singh: The measure depends upon the amount of happiness and satisfaction that a person derives from his work and not from what other people measure.
LawOF: What according to you should be the prime concern for law students?
Akanksha Singh: A law student cannot stick to a particular concern he has to be an All-rounder. With charismatic personality, good vocabulary, gentle communication skills and the seven lamps of advocacy of which wisdom, honesty, hard work, are few.
LawOF: What would be your message to the Law students to encourage them and to grow them in their personal as well as professional lives?
Akanksha Singh: Always find happiness in whatever you do. Balance your personal and professional life, never compromise either for the sake of other as both are equally important. Work hard, find time for you hobbies. Never ignore your family as it will add to your strength.
LawOF: Please share the golden rules of your life which brought you here so that the students can gain from the useful insight and can be inspired by you.
Akanksha Singh: Complete whatever you undertake to do, never leave it in between. Take your work seriously but never pressurize yourself. Work hard and also enjoy every moment of your life.
LawOF: In this long career when did you consider yourself a success?
Akanksha Singh: I consider that my career has just started and I am striving on the road to success.
LawOF: Your views on LawOF and token of Love and message to our readers?
