About Organization:

Siddhartha vashishta charitable trust is the NGO working for poor and needy. It works for the inmates of tihar jail and their families organize health camps and spreading cancer awareness.

SVCT PROGRAMS

  • CATCH THE CANCER-A person suffering from cancer dies every day, little by little. His family members and those nearest to him are made aware every moment of the impending death and its inevitability. So NGO provide help to such families.
  • HUMAN TOUCH- If a person is sent to jail his whole family have to suffer and mainly the child of a person who is in jail. Children are like flowers that blossom in the garden of God as they are the harbingers of eternal joy to all those around. Let’s not punish them for something they have not done. Let’s make their lives as joyful as it was always meant to be. Let’s give them an equal playing field and allow them to run as far as they desire.
  • CHANCE FOR CHANGE- In this, NGO help released prisoner to find a good job according to their ability.

Duration of the Internship:

16th may to 16th June

Timing:

11am to 5pm

Main Task Work Profile:

The main work of ngo is to provide help to needy prisoner’s family by paying school fees and giving other possible help to the families. We visited different families and analyze their financial condition, according to that we have to prepare report on each family. Each report should contain 3000 words and in the format in which ngo asked us to make. We also visited the tihar jail to know more about the prisoners live and what the facilities available in jail are. The main work was to complete the report on time.

Work Environment at office:

I got a lovely and wonderful working environment; a separate room was arranged for us with laptop and WI-FI facility was also available. The staff of NGO was very supporting. All were working as a family.

Stipend:

No stipend

First day at organization:

First day you will be told about the NGO and the purpose for which NGO is working. I was asked to read the files of the families which are getting help from NGO and was informed about the work to be done during my internship period. The members of NGO will make you know about the founder and all detail about the ngo.

Best Part of Internship:

The best part of internship was that we get to know reality how a family suffers when they have lack of resources and we were made to see their lifestyle. We were having opportunity to provide more help to family by directly contacting to the head of the NGO. The other thing was being, a law student you will get opportunity to talk to prisoners about their crime and deal with the section under which their crime and punishment lie.

Biggest Lesson:

The biggest lesson I have learnt in during my internship is that if a crime is done it is not necessary that it is done with an evil motive; sometimes a situation plays a bigger role for an initiation of crime. I have met a prisoner in tihar jail who was educated and having good behavior in society but now he is in jail for murder.

Anything else you’d like to tell:

SVCT is one of the NGO who do not take any fund from outside and work for uplifting the poor section of society. The NGOs work is different as compare to other NGO, as there are very less NGO who work for inmate family.

Any Message to other Law Students:

I would like to suggest my friends who are living nearby Delhi, must intern at ‘SVCT’.  It will help you in your law career. You will get opportunities to meet prisoners and question them directly about the crime they have done and the reason behind that crime.
