About Organization:
I thing that I worked in Kochhar & Co. which is one of the leading and largest corporate law firms in India. It offers a wide range of legal services in the areas of corporate and commercial laws and specializes in representing major foreign and domestic corporations with diverse business interests in India.
Duration of the Internship:
4th Jan 2016 – 31st Jan 2016
Timing:
10:00 – 18:00
Main Task Work Profile:
I worked with both corporate and litigation team and assigned a good quality of work by them. The main work given to me was on Research on the various labor laws, FDI and corporate laws.
And when I say Research that means lot of research work within the limited time, to prepare the synopsis of it and find the relevant case laws (that also in crux). The associates you work with always take out the time to explain what they’re looking for and give you the context in which you are researching. There’s lots to be learnt from these type of excises and you are also encouraged by the associates to put your the views forward.
During my internship I did most of the work on labor laws and FDI.
Work Environment at office:
The work environment was amicable and favorably for each and every intern under the valuable guidance of the associates. The interns were given the good work place to work. Everybody was dressed up in formals. You can have green tea, coffee, tea at any time just you have to call pantry.
Stipend:
No
First day at organization:
We were asked to report at 9:30 am on the first day. There is usually an orientation in which we were told the assigned partner/associates and rules in the office.
Best Part of Internship:
The best thing about the internship was the nature of work. If you are learning towards corporate law, this is a very good firm to intern with because of the kind of work that they do.
There were days when we went to court to see the proceedings on which the partner arguing and learning from them. There were the lots of discussion with partners and associates. I also have a chance to watch Mr. Salman Khurshid arguing in the case.
Biggest Lesson:
The court room was full of arguments on the various issues on cases and the lawyers were handling the same. The court gave the lesson how to handle that type of situation. And the most important lesson is to try building good relations and good contacts.
Anything else you’d like to tell:
They really do some very interesting Corporate and litigation Law work, so if that’s what you aim to practice in, you will learn a lot from the internship.
