Name of the Student:

Shreya Rajan

College Name:

Faculty of  Law, ICFAI University, Dehradun

Organization Name, City:

Advocate Ramesh Pandey, High Court of Judicature at Allahabad, Lucknow Bench

Duration of the Internship:

4 weeks

Timing:

Court timings: 10:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. ; Office timings – 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M.

Main Task Work Profile:

The work included attending the High Court, not only hearing cases but also analyzing the same, noting down important points of the counsels and keeping a record of the judgements. Also, going through various cases and understanding the applicability of the law in each of the circumstances.

Work Environment at office:

The work environment was pretty good. Sir is a very humble person and also his fellow associates were very friendly and helpful. Inspite of all the workload, everyone was very supportive towards one another , and as advocates, also very jovial. Also, there was such a huge collection of books and law journals at sir’s office and one was free to pick anyone up for a good read!

Stipend:

No stipend.

First day at Organization:

The first day was rather normal. I had interned under Sir earlier as well, and hence was familiar with all the associates and the work in the office.

Best Part of Internship:

I think the best part was not any particular moment, it was a pack of various small moments. However, learning the law in practicality has been a very remarkable process.

Biggest Lesson:

Being a lawyer is no easy job, you not only have to understand your side of the coin, but also the flip side. You need to collect your rose petals by walking straight on the thorns laid down for you!

Anything else you’d like to tell:

Law is a very addictive profession.

Any Message to other Law Students:

Always have faith in yourself; for one who doesn’t believe in oneself can never make others believe on what he says. Work hard on your patience, there will be times when all the hardwork might take a toll on you. Know the worth of your words. Also, don’t opt for law as a profession, rather, make it your biggest passion. Wishing good luck to all the aspiring lawyers !
