Internship opportunity for Law Students at Institute of Legislative Drafting and Research- Applications Open
The Ministry of Law and Justice’s Legislative Department is primarily responsible for the drafting of all major legislation for the Central Government, including bills to be introduced in Parliament, presidential ordinances, measures to be enacted as President’s Acts for States under the President’s rule, and regulations to be made by the President for Union territories.
It also has to do with the Representation of the People Act 1950 and the Representation of the People Act 1951, which are both election laws. It is also tasked with dealing with certain concerns relating to List III of the Constitution’s Seventh Schedule.
The internship is a Voluntary Internship for law students from nationally recognised law schools.
The internship program’s goal is to pique students’ interest in the field of legislative drafting as a career. This internship programme would improve students’ drafting skills and provide insight into how the Legislative Department operates.
Eligibility Criteria
Students in their fourth and fifth years of a five-year integrated law programme are eligible.
Students in their final year of a three-year law programme at a nationally recognised law school.
Students who have chosen Legislative Drafting as a subject in their course of study will be given priority.
Internship will last 4-6 weeks.
5 interns at a time is the maximum number of selected interns.
