Internship Experience @SRGR Law Offices (Advocates & Solicitors) By Abhinaba Maitra

Personal Information:

Name of the Student : ABHINABA MAITRA

Year of Study : IIIrd Year

College Name : Faculty of Law,The ICFAI University, Dehradun

Email Id : maitra.abhinaba@gmail.com

Contact Details : +91-7088551144

Internship Information:

Organization Name : SRGR Law Offices (Advocates & Solicitors)

Organization Location : Sector-4, Noida, (NCR of Delhi), New Delhi

About Organization : The Organization basically deals with Arbitration, Capital Markets, Corporate M&A, Litigation, Private Equity, Projects & Infrastructure, Real Estate, Tax matters primarily focused on Arbitration, Litigation & Corporate Matters.

Duration of the Internship : 15th May, 2017 – 15th June, 2017

Timing : 10:00 am – 6:30 pm

Main Task Work Profile : Being an intern, I was primarily told to do the research work of the cases along with preparation & drafting of legal documents etc. of the case files. Further I accompanied the associate advocates to various Client meetings, court proceedings etc. In the course of my internship I also got various opportunities to improve my client interviewing skills and also my knowledge regarding the prevailing laws and guidelines pertaining to intellectual property, real estate laws, government regulations pertaining to the payment of gratuity etc. along with legal drafting & pleading.

Work Environment at Office : Quite a good and healthy environment to work with a lot of exposure and opportunities waiting for you. The Partners and their fellow associate(s) advocates were extremely encouraging, helpful, motivating, friendly and supportive. Inspite of the work load, the advocates were very jovial.

Stipend : * NIL

First day at organization : My first day of internship started with an amicable interaction with the senior partners and associate advocates in the office. I was guided with the office rules and timings etc. & was designated my cubicle. Thereafter I was given my first case file to go through along with jotting down the facts and briefing of the relevant points, including research work on the topics and also finding of relevant case laws, judgements & citations.

Best Part of Internship : Being an intern my Seniors guided and helped me with all the assignments, projects etc. Not only did I have an educational and informative experience but also got to learn the practical aspects of being a Lawyer.

Biggest Lesson : My continuous interactions with the advocates in our Office and my Seniors, led to a boost of practical knowledge of the legal profession. The fundamental rule of our profession is that “Reading is extremely important for our profession, but practical knowledge makes things clear and helps in building one’s personality.”

Anything else you’d like to tell : I had gathered immense knowledge during my internship tenure and learnt some practical working tactics. At the internship training’s end it was quite clear that Law is an extremely addictive profession and in the legal profession, the learning process never ends.

Any Message to other Law Students : Law, though a small word of three alphabets has its vast horizon and all are welcome to this profession who believe in autonomy, mastery and purpose. Work hard, achieve excellence and once you are the master of your subject, you become an icon of the profession.
