About Organization:
Greenpeace India was founded in 2001, and is a legally registered society with offices in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Patna, Kolkata, Pune, Hyderabad and Chennai. The organisation does not accept donations from governments or corporations, and relies on the donations of 77,000+ Indian citizens to fund campaign work.
Greenpeace India campaigns to protect India’s forests, for clean air and water, to promote solar power, to prevent the dangerous impacts of climate change and nuclear power, for safe food and ecological farming and to protect freedom of speech.
Duration of the Internship:
1st– 28th December 2015
Timing:
9:00 am – 6:00 pm
Main Task Work Profile:
I was designated to work with the Fundraising team. The main task of a Fundraiser is to raise awareness about Greenpeace Campaigns to people on the street, at public places, offices, on phone and inspire them to contribute funds and become financial supporters of Greenpeace.
Work Environment at office:
The interns had to report directly to the place where fundraising was scheduled. We sometime visited the office premises where any specific task arose there.
Stipend:
Nil
First day at organization:
The interns were given a brief about the organization and its working. We were also taught the art of approaching and then asked about any similar experiences if we had any previously. Then all the interns were divided into teams. Then we were directly taken to the spot where we were shown live examples of how things has to be carried out. In short the first day was quite good and I got to know a lot of things.
Best Part of Internship:
The best thing about the organisation was the precious experience that it gave me, the very frank behaviour of the employees and the way they made me feel to be equal to them. The enhanced communication and research skill was my best takeaway.
Biggest Lesson:
I improved my communication skills and confidence. I got to interact with all kinds people, men & women, old & young, working & non-working, people from different parts of the country. I also increased my knowledge on environmental issues.
Anything else you’d like to tell:
Its suggested to take accommodation near IT parks like Hinjewadi or Viman Nagar because you will be needing to travel to these places very frequently.
