On February 2023, 9th Prof VS Mani Memorial International Law Moot Court Competition Organized By the Seedling School of Law And Governance, Jaipur National University has successfully inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Hon’ble Mr. Justice GK Vyas, Chairperson of Rajasthan State Human Rights Commission. “Mooting is first platform to learn the advocacy skill. The moot courts help in the development of argumentative skills of a law student which is a prerequisite for becoming a good lawyer,” said Hon’ble Mr. Justice GK Vyas, Chairperson, Rajasthan State Human Rights Commission.
Justice Vyas stated that through moot court competitions students can gain a lot, such as: writing and research skills, networking skills and most importantly practical knowledge. Moot court competitions help boost the morale of the students, and it helps students gain confidence and get better at articulating their points and putting forward their arguments. He explained the true definition of profession of law to the students and said, “The budding law graduates need to hone up the art of advocacy based on facts, figures and calibrated arguments in gracious presence of high caliber sitting judges, eminent jurists, and judicial officers.” “Any legal professional should act as strong protagonist of citizen’s fundamental rights against the might of system using the various provisions of the law”, he added. According to him, an advocate cannot afford to overlook miniscule information while arguing a case and therefore they must learn to focus. He further congratulated the entire organizing team for such an initiative.
Dr. Sandeep Bakshi, Chancellor of Jaipur National University, advised the budding law professionals to undertake the practical learning as the most crucial aspect of undergoing legal studies. He said, “Undergoing legal education in classroom, interpretation & implementation of law outside the classroom in the society are two different things”. He advocated “Quest for Knowledge and True Personality of Life” as the success mantra to the students and said, “Universities or Institutions, when inculcate such professional ethics and morals in its students, are prepared to take any challenge in their lives and come out as winners at last”.
Mr. Paras Aneja, Assistant Professor, Seedling School of Law and Governance, Jaipur National University, Jaipur, spoke brief about the Law Department and Mooting Culture. While Dr. S.Krishnan, Associate Professor, Seedling School of Law and Governance, Jaipur National University, Jaipur, spoke brief about life achievements of Prof (Dr) VS Mani and his way of introducing the mooting concept to the law students. He gave a scintillating talk on emerging dimensions in the practice of law and urged young students to give ample time to inculcate a
hobby which brings value addition to their personality. He emphasized on the importance of reading quality literature to enhance literary skills.
Around 30 teams from National Law Universities, State Universities and Law Schools from different parts of the country are taking part in the Prof VS Mani Memorial International Law Moot Court Competition which is based on the theme “International Environmental Law”, with special emphasis on the Trans-boundary pollution between two countries – Republic of Indiya and Bangala. The competition seeks to promote the different aspects in the area of International Law and to kindle students’ interest in the expanding field of Law.
