About The Consortium Of NLUs:

The Consortium of National Law Universities was established on 19th August, 2017 with the aim of improving standards of legal education in the country and serving the justice system through legal education. The Consortium aspires to facilitate better coordination amongst National Law Schools to achieve highest standards of legal education in the country. Twenty-two National Law Universities have joined the Consortium as members.

Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) has recently announced in their annual governing body meeting that they have elected Prof. (Dr.) Vijender Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, Maharashtra National Law University (MNLU) in their new executive committee to be the next president of the Consortium of NLUs for Common Law Admission Test of 2024.

About Prof. (Dr.) Vijender Kumar:

Prof. (Dr.) Vijender Kumar is currently serving as the Vice-Chancellor of Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur. He is also a Former Vice-Chancellor of National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam and the Registrar of NALSAR, University of Law, Hyderabad. He has been a visiting faculty at National Academy of Direct Taxes (NADT), Nagpur. With the rich experience at the Bar prior to teaching, he started his teaching career as assistant professor at the National Academy of Legal Studies and Research (NALSAR) University of Law, Hyderabad, India.

Being a pioneer scholar & academician, he has published numerous research articles in reputed law journals and has contributed several book reviews and papers in books. He has also authored many books on Hindu Law. In the year 2009, he received the prestigious Commonwealth Fellowship and visiting professorship at King’s College London, England. He is regarded as one of the authorities on the subject of Family law in India and due to his passion towards Family Law he undertook his Ph.D. on “Sonship and Adoption under Hindu Law”. Due to his incredible knowledge and hard work he received the Meritorious Teacher Award by Govt. of Telangana in 2019.

He has been and is a member of many committees of the UGC, NAAC, NIRF, NITI AAYOG, UPSC etc. and contributed in holistic growth of legal education and profession. He advocates for Socratic and Cooperative Methods of teaching-learning pedagogy and ICT based techniques while helping faculty members in designing of the Course Curriculum of law and allied disciplines. He was also a co-opted Member of Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) – 2009 by the Core Committee of CLAT and in 2010, as Chairman of Entrance Test Committee, he has organized the 3rd All India Entrance Test of National Law University, Delhi and for many years now, he has been a member of NALSAR Academic Council, Executive Council, and General Council.
