Further Details
For its upcoming special issue on Financial Technology (‘FinTech,’ the Indian Journal of Law & Technology (IJLT) is now inviting papers. If you want your submissions to be considered, please submit them in by February 28, 2022.
India is one of the world’s fastest-growing fintech markets. Financial institutions were among the first corporate sectors to employ technology to innovate, improve services, expand financial inclusion, and reduce costs. Fintech has grown significantly in India in recent years, thanks to tremendous growth in mobile and telecommunications services and strong government support.
This special issue seeks to serve as a springboard for increasing scholarly discussion about Fintech in India. We seek submissions that explore the legal, technological, and regulatory aspects of the many fintech products and services that are growing in India and elsewhere, given the topic’s current relevance.
The Special Issue’s Scope:
Fintech is a broad term that encompasses any technological advancements that affect financial services. The following are some of the suggested sub-themes:
- Credit history
- Payment platforms
- Deposit/lending and capital raising
- Peer to peer lending and microfinance
- Investment management
This is only a sample list; all entries that fall under the broad scope of Fintech are welcome.
Authors are urged to take an interdisciplinary approach and investigate the socioeconomic impact of fintech as well as regulatory proposals.
Note: For scholars new to this topic, the Reserve Bank of India’s Report of the Working Group on Fintech and Digital Banking, issued in 2018, is a good place to start. Prof. Deirdre Ahern’s work on Fintech Innovation and the Regulatory Sandbox, published in Vol. 15 (2019) of IJLT, is a good example.
