Gujarat National Law University (GNLU) is a statutory university founded by the Gujarat government under the Gujarat National Law University Act, 2003. It is India’s fifth National Law School in terms of formation.

The Bar Council of India (BCI) and the University Grants Commission both acknowledge the university (UGC). The institution is located in Gandhinagar, the capital of Gujarat State in India, some 23 kilometres north of Ahmedabad.

Submission Requirements

  • Papers focused on the intersection of any field of technology and law are encouraged to be submitted to the GNLU Journal of Law and Technology.
  • Academicians, practitioners, research experts, and students are invited to submit articles to the GNLU Journal of Law and Technology, which is published twice a year.
  • A maximum of two writers can co-author a paper. In the case of Case Comment, Legislative Comment, and Book Review, however, co-authorship is not permitted.
  • The manuscript must not be currently under consideration by another journal.
  • Articles must have never been published in English before.
  • Plagiarism of any kind will result in the contribution being disqualified immediately.
  • There must be no grammatical or spelling problems in the document.
  • The files must be sent in the Microsoft Office (doc./docx) format only.
  • The abstract (no more than 500 words) and at most five keywords must be included in the submission.
  • The entry must include a ‘Conclusion’ that expresses the writers’ thoughts and opinions on the subject topic.
  • The submission shall consist of cover letter and main document.
    • The Cover Letter addressed to the Chief Editor shall include the details like Name of Author(s); Contact Details – Address, Email and Mobile No. of Author(s); Name and Address of Institution of Author(s); Academic Qualifications / Affiliations of Author(s); Conflict of Interest Statement and Financial Declaration by Author(s) {in case of sponsored studies}.
    • The main document shall not contain any author identification like name(s), affiliation(s), and any acknowledgement(s).
    • The name of the author(s) shall not be there in the file properties of the main document.
    • The title, abstract or the keywords shall not be removed from the main document.
  • Articles with a word limit (minimum 5000 words, excluding footnotes).
  • Essays (3500-5000 words, excluding footnotes).
  • Short Notes/Book Reviews/Case Commentary (2000-3500 words, excluding footnotes).
  • The prescribed word limit must be followed.

Citation Style and Formatting

  • The manuscript’s body must be written in the font “Times New Roman,” with a font size of 12, line spacing of 1.5, and alignment of “justify.”
  • All footnotes must be in Times New Roman font, size 10, with one line spacing. All submissions must adhere to the OSCOLA format.
  • On the first reference, spell out acronyms before inserting the abbreviated phrase in parenthesis.
  • The numbering against the heading (1., 2., etc.) / subheading (1.1, 1.2, etc.) must be in decimal number format.
  • The headline should be bold, and the subheadings should be italic.
  • Non-conformity may be a reason for dismissal.

Submission Rules

  1. All submissions must be made to gjlt@gnlu.ac.in with the subject “Manuscript Submission for GNLU Journal of Law and Technology”.
  2. The submissions with the journal are open throughout the year and manuscript(s) will be considered for any particular issue based on the completion of the review process and the availability of space in a particular volume of the journal.
