The Centre for Women and Law, established under the auspices of National Law University, Odisha, is pleased to announce call for papers for an edited volume on ‘Socio-Legal Status of Unwed Mothers: Issues, Challenges and Way Ahead’.

The Centre has been established with the goal of promoting and encouraging research, new ideas, views, approaches, discussions and disseminating high-quality literature on issues concerning ‘women and law’. The Centre aims to assess the status, efficacy, and impact of numerous laws in India relating to issues unique to women in Indian society and make valuable and plausible suggestions in relation to the same. The Centre particularly concentrates on the plights and problems of women in Odisha and eastern part of India in general.

The Edited Volume aims to play a constructive role in shaping discussions in the subject-area of Socio-Legal Status of Unwed Mothers and encourage views and debate on related issues of vital importance.

Call for Papers

Eligibility Criteria: The Volume invites submissions in the form of research articles from academicians, judges, advocates, research scholars, students, officials of various departments, human right activists, NGOs and other professional.

Theme: The submissions should be on the theme ‘Unwed Mothers: Socio-Legal Status: Issues, Challenges and Way Ahead. The theme would also include related issues like surrogacy.

Word Limit: The prescribed word limit is around 5000 words including footnotes. The submission must include an abstract of 200-300 words.

Submission Guidelines

The author(s) is/are required to attach a Cover Letter containing all personal details (Name of the author(s), their degrees, Designation, Name of Institution/ Organisation that they are associated with) in separate document with the entry.

All submissions must be attached with the email in Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx) format at cwl@nluo.ac.in . The title of the attached file must specify the name(s) of the author(s).

Format and Citation Details

The Entry must be typewritten in the font: Times New Roman, Font Size: 12, Line Spacing: 1.5 and justified alignment.

The Citations must be typewritten in the font: Times New Roman, Font Size: 10, Line Spacing: 1.0 and justified alignment. Citation style must adhere to the OSCOLA (Latest Edition).

Co-authorship is permitted to a maximum number of two people. Each author is restricted to one entry.

Authors must strictly adhere to guidelines, failing which their submissions may not be considered.

Copyright

The submissions must not have been previously published or submitted for publication elsewhere. The contributions presented to and accepted for publication and the copyrights therein shall be the intellectual property of NLUO.

The selected articles will be edited and published in the form of an edited volume by the Centre for Women and Law

Submission Deadline

 Deadline for submission for Volume 1 is 15 August, 2017.
