What Is UCL Journal of Law and Jurisprudence (UCLJLJ)? 

The University College London (UCL) Journal of Law and Jurisprudence (UCLJLJ) is a law journal edited and published by graduate (Masters and PhD) students of UCL Laws. The Journal publishes scholarly contributions from academics, researchers and practitioners, as well as showcasing outstanding research of post-graduate students at UCL. It accepts submissions in all areas of law and jurisprudence, reflecting the diverse and innovative areas of research at UCL Laws, and its distinguished tradition of legal philosophy. The Journal is a generalist publication, but runs occasional themed issues. The Board of Editors assesses all submissions through a double blind peer review.

What Are The Details Of The Opportunity?

  • Submission Guidelines:
    • Users will be required to register on the website and accept the T&C’s prior to submitting articles.  We do not accept submissions via email.
    • You must submit your article in Microsoft Word format, including an abstract of approximately 150 words.  
    • Journal submissions are expected to meet the standards and style for publication (spelling, grammar, citations, etc.) at the time of submission.

    • NOTE: Users must agree to and comply with the following requirements and criteria set forth below.  If your submission does not comply with these requirements, your submission will not be considered.
  • Copyright Notice: An Article cannot be submitted, and the Journal cannot proceed to publication of the Article, if the terms of the UCL Open Access Student Journals Article Contributor Agreement are not agreed to by the Corresponding Contributor Author.  By submitting to the Journal, the Corresponding Contributor Author confirms that the article (or any iteration of it) is not under consideration for publication by any other publisher and has not already been published under another publisher’s imprint and hereby agrees to the UCL Open Access Student Journals Article Contributor Agreement Terms CLICK HERE , on  behalf any/all co-authors and all authors understand that these terms apply to the article when published.
  • Peer Review: The Journal operates double blind peer review, where both the reviewers and authors are anonymised during review.  Authors should submit an anonymous version of the manuscript, stripped of all identifying references to the author(s) for peer review.   • Attribution: You must give appropriate credit, provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made. You may do so in any reasonable manner, but not in any way that suggests the licensor endorses you or your use. No additional restrictions: You may not apply legal terms or technological measures that legally restrict others from doing anything the license permits.
  • Publication Fees: All UCL Open Access Student Journals do not charge an Article-Processing Charge (APC) for submission or publication and UCLJLJ authors of accepted papers will not be required to make an APC payment for submission or publication before publication of their article.
  • Publication Cycle: In the 2023-2024 academic year, we will be publishing one issue in Summer 2024.
  • The deadline for submissions: Wednesday, 20 March 2024.  Submissions after this date will not be considered.
