Bar Council of India Revives Maximum Age Limit for Law Courses
As per circular issued by Bar Council of India, maximum age limit for Law Course across India stands revived, pursuant to court rulings.
Bar Council of India issued one circular related to “Revive the Age restriction Under Clause 28 of Legal education rules 2008”
The Bar Council of India framed the rules of legal education, 2008. Clause 28 of Schedule III of the 2008 Rules stipulates age limit for admissions to 3-year and 5-year law courses.
As per this clause, the upper age limit for admission in LL.B 3-year course is 30 years and for LL.B 5- year course is 20 years.
Age on Admission in Law Courses:
LL.B- 5Year:
- General Category: 20 Years
- SC, ST and other Backward Communities: 22 Years
(Subject to the Conditions stipulated by a University on this behalf)
LL.B- 3 Year:
- General Category: 30 Years with right of the University to give concession of five further years to the applicant belonging to SC or ST or other Backward Communities.
(Subject to the Conditions stipulated by a University and general social conditions of the applicants seeking legal education belatedly)
As per the circulation, After the order of the High Court and the apex court, the rule under Clause 28 of Legal Education Rules 2008 has been restored,”.
