Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College, Puducherry was established in 1972 and has been affiliated to Pondicherry University and approved by the Bar Council of India and has from the beginning has laid down commensurate efforts to impart legal excellence and the reputation of the institution remains strong because of its vast curriculum as to tends to traverse vast expanse of legal education
The mooting culture of the institution remains strong as the institution has till date organised 45 National Level Moot Court competitions including 5 Regional languages and has also played a key role in the Philips Jessup International Moot Court Competition
