Applications for the 2018 Regional Course in International Law for Asia-Pacific are now being accepted.

WHAT:
Regional Course in International Law for Asia-Pacific is organized by the Codification Division of the United Nations Office of Legal Affairs in cooperation with the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP).
WHEN:
The Regional Course will be held at the facilities of ESCAP in Bangkok, from 19 November to 14 December 2018.
Language:
The Regional Course will be conducted in English.

Qualifications
The Regional Course is open to candidates from the following countries: Afghanistan, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, China, Cyprus, Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Fiji, India, Indonesia, Iran (Islamic Republic of), Iraq, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kiribati, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Lebanon, Malaysia, Maldives, Marshall Islands, Micronesia (Federated States of), Mongolia, Myanmar, Nauru, Nepal, Oman, Pakistan, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Qatar, Republic of Korea, Samoa, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Solomon Islands, Sri Lanka, Syrian Arab Republic, Tajikistan, Thailand, Timor-Leste, Tonga, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Tuvalu, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, Vanuatu, Viet Nam and Yemen.
To qualify for the Regional Course, candidates must have a legal background with professional experience in the field of international law. The selected participants are required to submit a medical certificate of good health and to certify that they are able to attend the entire course period.
Selection process
When selecting participants for the Regional Courses, due consideration is given to the candidates’ qualifications, to the scope of their professional duties, to the relevance of the training to their professional duties and to gender balance. Applications from female candidates are encouraged.
Due consideration is also given to those candidates who are already present in Bangkok.
