Who Is The Organiser?

Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) occupies a unique position amongst universities and institutions of higher learning in the country. It was established in 1920 and evolved out of the Mohammedan Anglo-Oriental (MAO ) which was set up on 7 January 1877 by the great visionary and social reformer, Sir Syed Ahmad khan. From its very inception, it has kept its door open to the members of all communities and from all corners of the country and the world. The Aligarh Muslim University s the realization of a vision which was broad, far-reaching and realistic.

Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar Hall was established in the academic session of 2008-2009, located outside the main campus of the University on Baraula By-Pass Road. With an intake capacity of 500 students, it accommodates students from various faculties including Law, Social Science, Arts, and Commerce. The Hall comprises two Hostels and an Annexe, with the latter situated adjacent to the Faculty of Law on Qila Road, Aligarh.

The Editorial Board of the Annual Hall Magazine of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Hall, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), invites original and unpublished submissions for its upcoming edition. They welcome contributions from students, faculty, and alumni, as well as scholars and researchers from across India and beyond.

What Are The Details Of The Opportunity?

  • Theme: “Empowering Communities: The Legacy of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar”
  • Submission Categories:
    • Articles: In-depth analysis and research papers on topics related to the theme, or social sciences, humanities, current affairs, literature, and more. (Word limit: 1500-2000 words)
    • Essays: Short and thought-provoking essays on diverse themes related to the magazine’s
      focus. (Word limit: 1000-1200 words)
    • Creative writing: Poetry, short stories, and other creative writing pieces that engage with
      the chosen theme or showcase literary talent. (Word limit: 800-1000 words)
    • Visual Arts: Photographs, illustrations, and other visual artworks that reflect the theme
      or showcase artistic talent. (High-resolution digital submissions preferred)
  • Submission Guidelines:
    • All submissions must be original and unpublished work.
    • Please submit your entries in English/ Hindi / Urdu / Bangla.
    • Use a clear and concise writing style with proper grammar and punctuation.
    • Include a cover page with your name, affiliation, email address, and title of your submission.
    • For articles and essays, please follow the MLA or APA citation style.
    • For creative writing and visual arts, please provide a brief description of your work.
  • Format:
    • For English – MS Word ( Times New Roman, Size 12, Line Space 1.5 )
    • For Bangla, Hindi, Urdu – Any Accepted Format.
  • Deadline for Submissions: 15 March 2024
  • Fee: No fees.
  • Selection Process: Submissions will be reviewed by a panel of distinguished academicians and literary experts based on originality, relevance to the theme, clarity, and quality of writing/artwork.
  • Publication and Recognition:
    • Selected submissions will be published in the Legatus, (Annual Hall Magazine of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Hall, AMU). All published authors/artists will receive a complimentary copy of the magazine and a certificate of publication. Legatus will be published with an International Standard Book Number (ISBN).

  • Notification of Acceptance: 20th March 2024.
