Vellore Institute Of Technology (VIT) was founded in the year 1984 by the visionary Dr. G Viswanathan. The VIT School of Law (VITSOL), the progeny of VIT University is one of the best Law Colleges in Chennai. It entered the legal arena in 2014, aiming at high goals to be achieved. The Law School aims to impart quality legal education to equip the young minds with knowledge of law, teach them the nuances of the legal profession and make them aware of the nitty gritty of the profession. The School offers two undergraduate honours programmes viz. B.A., LL.B (Hon’s) and B.B.A., LL.B (Hon’s). It also offers LL.M in three branches of law – International Law and Development, Corporate Laws and Intellectual Property Laws. Further the School offers a doctoral program. All the law courses follow a carefully framed curriculum that is on par with the global standards. VIT School of Law strives to prepare exceptionally skilled, practice ready, ethically strong, justice minded and socially responsible outstanding legal professionals.
VITSOL Debate Society is started in the VIT School of Law (VITSOL) with the aim to provide recognition and support for law students participating debates in legal issues. The main object of the society is to nurture a rule based debating culture among the law students. Eventually, it introduced various types of debating techniques among the students such as the United States, British and Asian form of parliamentary debate, socio-legal debate, youth parliament etc to the student community. Although debate society focusing primarily on issues relating to law the cross cutting issues of law and cultural, law and economic, law and politics etc must have a prominent place in its activities.
VLS MUN is the flagship event of VIT School of Law. Known among munners in the circuit for its adaptable cooperation of representatives from the entire nation and captivating agendas handpicked for extensive debates. The previous edition of our MUN had noticed the facilitation of different and well-versed boards of trustees who have shown in their respective fields and have addressed issues that have been tackled on a worldwide scale.
The VLS MUN is highly regarded for the showcase of diverse committees with special emphasis shown towards Indian Committees, such as the All India Political Parties Meet (AIPPM), Lok Sabha, and Parliamentary debate simulations, that have addressed issues such as deliberation on government law enforcement, abrogation of articles, discussion on sedition law, among other agendas.
