What Is CCL, NLSIU, Bangalore?

The Centre for Child and the Law (CCL) was established as a specialized multi-disciplinary research centre of NLSIU on April 1, 1996. The Centre integrates research, direct field action, and teaching on child rights law. We use law and socio-legal strategies as tools for transformative social change to enable children to live with dignity. Our aim is to ensure social justice, human rights and quality of life for all children in India, with special focus on equitable quality education, care, protection and justice for marginalized and excluded children.

National Law School Of India University (NLSIU ), Bangalore was the first National Law University established in India in 1986. The premier law school was set up with a mission to pioneer legal education reforms, and to anchor the transformation of the Indian legal system through research and policy interventions. Consequently, the NLSIU was one of the first institutions in the country to introduce the five-year integrated law degree at the undergraduate level with the commencement of the first batch in 1988.

What Are The Details Of The Opportunity?

  • Job Position:
    • Research Consultant: one (01) position.
      • The selected candidate will work under the ‘Child Protection Programme’.
      • It is a contractual assignment (12 months), based out of Bangalore. 
      • Eligibility:
        • Candidates with a Master’s Degree in Law or Social Sciences from a recognised University, in the field of criminal law, human rights and other allied fields
        • At least five (05) years of work experience with a minimum of two (02) years of experience as a researcher, having done hands-on designing and conceptualisation of research projects
        • Ability to meticulously use different legal research databases. In addition, the candidate must have:
          • – Ability to work in a team, contributing to both team and individual goals
          • – Analytical and Research skills, collation skills, communication skills (written and oral), time-management skills
          • – Demonstrated proficiency in the use of G-Suite, MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel
          • – Self-driven, collaborative as well as the ability to work independently, attention to detail

    • Project Coordinator: one (01) position 
      • The selected candidate will work under the Centre for Child and the Law (CCL), National Law School of India University, Bangalore
      • It is a contractual assignment twelve (12 months), based out of Bangalore
      • Eligibility:
        • Bachelor’s Degree in Management, Law or Social Sciences from a recognised University
        • At least three (03) years of project management experience, having worked on academic / research / development projects
        • Background in academics or research (field or desk) is preferred
        • Background in child rights is preferred
        • Demonstrated proficiency in speaking, reading and writing Kannada and English fluently is preferred
        • In addition, the candidate must have:
          • – Ability to work in a team, contributing to both team and individual goals
          • – Analytical skills, collation skills, communication skills (written and oral), time-management skills
          • – Demonstrated proficiency in the use of G-Suite, MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel
          • – Self-driven, collaborative as well as the ability to work independently, attention to detail

    • Practicing Advocate: multiple vacancies
      • NLSIU invites applications for the position of Practicing Advocate on a contractual basis (yearly), commencing from July, 2023
      • It is a contractual assignment based out of Bangalore.
      • The position is under the ‘Child Protection Programme’ in the Centre for Child and the Law (CCL), National Law School of India University, Bangalore.
      • Eligibility:
        • Bachelor’s Degree in Law
        • Should be enrolled in the Bar Council of India (BCI) and be eligible to represent in a court of law
        • Demonstrated proficiency in speaking, reading and writing Kannada and English fluently
        • At least four (04) years of experience practicing before any court of law
        • Background in child rights and/or criminal law is preferred
        • In addition, the candidate must have:
        • – Ability to work in a team, contributing to both team and individual goals
        • – Demonstrated proficiency in the use of G-Suite, MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel
        • – Good communication, organising and time management skills
