  • The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) is a dedicated training arm of the United Nations system. UNITAR provides training and capacity development activities to assist mainly developing countries with special attention to Least Developed Countries (LDCs), Small Island Developing States (SIDS), and other groups and communities most vulnerable, including those in conflict situations.
  • UNITAR brings to you an online course on Human Rights and Environment that run throughout the year or several times a year that are free-of-charge and open to the public.
  • This course is a collaborative effort between UNITAR and UN Environment, which expands the learning portfolio available on InforMEA platform.

This course provides a general introduction to human rights and the environment. Participants will gain basic knowledge for applying human rights to environmental issues.

Procedural and substantive obligations relating to the environment will be reviewed. Some good practices will be presented, such as examples of national constitutions that have incorporated a right to a healthy environment.

All stakeholders interested to learn about the main aspects of the relationship between Human Rights and the Environment can benefit from the knowledge gained through the course.
