By an Act of the State Legislature (Act No. 9 of 2012), the Government of Tamil Nadu founded Tamil Nadu National Law University, Tiruchirappalli to deliver superior legal education. The TNNLU began operations in the 2013-2014 academic year. TNNLU provides two integrated five-year undergraduate programmes, a one-year LL.M. programme in three streams, and a PhD programme in law. The University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Bar Council of India have both acknowledged the institution (BCI).
Through an integrative approach to the study of law, TNNLU hopes to foster a feeling of social responsibility among students and faculty. The Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute, the Indian Institute of Company Secretaries, the Association of Commonwealth Universities, the Asian Law Institute, and the Indian Academy of Social Sciences are all members of TNNLU (permanent member). TNNLU is also a Competition Commission of India-approved organisation.
STAP
Suthanthira Thirunaal Amudha Peruvizha is a Tamil adaptation of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav (STAP). It is a celebration and commemoration of India’s growth over the past 75 years, as well as the beautiful history of its people, culture, and achievements. It exemplifies India’s sociocultural, political, and economic identities. STAP is committed to the people of Tamil Nadu, as well as the people of India as a whole. TNNLU will host a number of events as part of STAP from October 2021 to August 2022.
The Event’s Details
Seventy-five years of independence have seen a shift in women’s responsibilities, as well as new prospects for their growth and success in an independent India. Women’s well-being and growth, on the other hand, are constantly hampered by social hierarchy. Surrogacy is one of those issues where the rights and responsibilities of the persons involved are unclear. Furthermore, there is no effective regulatory structure in place.
In India, the Indian Contract Act of 1872 is regarded the fundamental contract law. As we approach our 75th anniversary of independence, it is past time to examine the relationship between the Indian Contract Act of 1872 and surrogacy contracts from a feminist standpoint.
As part of the Suthanthira Thirunaal Amudha Peruvizha (STAP) activities to mark 75 years of independence, the students of the Batch of 2025, who are now pursuing ‘Law of Contracts – II,’ are organising a national essay writing competition.
