The NLUO Law Journal (ISSN 2348-8913) is the flagship magazine of National Law University Odisha, with biannual editions fostering legal research in national and international multidisciplinary legal topics. It was initially published in 2013.
Previous editions have been focused on topical themes; however, this issue has no specific themes, and submissions to the journal for this issue can cover any subject of law. ‘Migration and Human Rights: Issues, Trends, and Challenges’ was the topic of the most recent themed issue.
The NLUO Law Journal is published twice a year, tentatively in January and July, and accepts submissions from external contributors on a rolling basis.
Theme
This issue of the NLUO Law Journal, Volume IX, will accept submissions on broad legal matters relating to public law, private law, or other cross-cutting issues with no restrictions based on the theme.
Submission Guidelines
- All of the aforementioned word restrictions are exclusive of footnotes, which must be rigorously adhered to.
- A 300-word abstract (exclusive of the word restriction) highlighting the major contribution must be included with the proposal, as well as a statement of originality. Below the abstract, a maximum of 6 keywords may be used.
- A maximum of two people can co-author a submission.
- Academics, practitioners, and research researchers are encouraged to submit their work.
- If writers submit several submissions for consideration, only the first submission will be considered for publication. If a submission is not accepted for publication in the issue for which it was submitted, it may be considered for publication in future issues.
Word Limits to be adhered to
- Long Articles: 8000-10000 words
- Short Notes: 4000-8000 words
- Case Comments/Legislative Comments: 3000 words
- Book Review: 2000-3000 words
Formatting and Citation Recommendations
- The cover page of the entry must include an acceptable title. The font type and size for the title should be Times New Roman and 16 correspondingly. It should be aligned in the middle.
- Throughout the manuscript, no biographical information about the author should be included.
- Times New Roman, Font Size 12 must be used for the body of the text. It is necessary to justify the alignment.
- The footnotes must be font type – Time New Roman, Font Size 10. The alignment should be justified.
- The Line Spacing of the main text and footnotes must be 1.5, 1 respectively.
- Use of headings and Subheadings is encouraged throughout the text.
- Headings: Centre Aligned, Bold, and Font Size – 14, Font Type – Times New Roman.
- Subheadings: Justified Alignment, Bold, Italicized, Font Size – 12 and Font Type – Times New Roman.
- OSCOLA(4th Edition) must be followed.

- Authors should email their original, unpublished submissions to nluojournal@nluo.ac.in in.doc/.docx format.
The file must be stored with the following name: - Name(s) of the Author(s) + Submission Title
A covering letter with the following information must be included with the submissions:

Author/Co-Author Contact Information - “SUBMISSION – ‘Name of Author‘ – ‘Title of the Paper‘ – Vol IX Issue I” must be the subject line of the email transmitting the submission.
- The authors must also include any pertinent identification information in the body of the email, such as their name, contact information, and institutional affiliation (if any). The authors are also encouraged to include a bio in a separate word document with any pertinent information.
