The Directorate of Women and Child Development is functioning w.e.f. 1-4-92 vide notification No. 79-SW I/92 dated 10th February 1992 after getting bifurcation from social welfare department.
In its capacity as a nodal agency looking after the advancement of women and children, the Department formulates plans, policies and programmes and coordinates the efforts of both government and non-governmental organizations working in the field of women and child development.

- Member (Juvenile Justice Board): 8 (Eight)
- Member (Child Welfare Committee): 8 (Eight)
- Chairperson (Child Welfare Committee): 3 (Three)
Location
- Member (Juvenile Justice Board): Hisar, Jhajjar, Palwal, Karnal, Rewari, Kurukshetra & Gurugram districts.
- Member (Child Welfare Committee): Hisar, Jhajjar, Palwal, Panchkula & Sonipat district.
- Chairperson (Child Welfare Committee): Fatehabad, Jind, Panchkula districts.
Eligibility
Member (Juvenile Justice Board): Minimum seven years of experience of working with children in the field of Law.
Member (Child Welfare Committee): Seven years of experience of working with children in the field with a degree law or a should be a retired Judicial Officer.
Chairperson (Child Welfare Committee): Seven years of experience of working with children in the field with a degree law or a should be a retired Judicial Officer.
