Competition Law is an upcoming field of law , the primary goal of which is to promote and sustain competition in markets, to prevent unfair practices from having adverse effect on competition , to protect the interests of consumers while ensuring freedom of trade. This field of law ensures that the principles of fair competition are adhered to at all times without distorting the markets.

The role played by law schools towards encouraging the study and practice of this subject carries a lot of significance in encouraging reforms to the law. Through the means of competitions like moot courts, seminars and negotiations law schools aim to foster an enhanced learning of the subject, quality research and debates on the subject. In collaboration with CCI , National Law University Delhi is organising the 3rd edition of CCI – NLUD Competition Law Moot. NLU Delhi is a premier law university in India which aims to create a legal education centre of global standards, preparing lawyers to compete with the best that the world has to offer and introducing them to a plethora of opportunities in the profession. The university has organised several national and international conferences and moot court competitions, thus becoming a pioneer in developing the jurisprudence for these subjects.

The Moot shall be based on the memorial elimination format. The top twenty (20) teams from universities all over India shall be selected to plead before eminent judges from the bar, bench, regulatory authorities, academia and industry in March 13-15, 2020.

The venue for the oral rounds will be National Law University Delhi.

Eligibility:

All students enrolled in a 3-year LLB programme or a 5-year integrated LLB programme shall be eligible to participate in the CCI – NLUD Competition Law Moot. However, only one team per university/institution shall be eligible to participate.

Team Composition:

 

The team composition shall be as follows: 2 Speakers & 1 Researcher. The teams may choose to participate without a Researcher.

Registration:

Registration for the III CCI-NLUD Competition Law Moot 2020 will open on November 18, 2019. The last date for registration shall be 11:59 PM, December 28, 2019.

The registration fee for the Competition is ₹5,000 and has to be paid either through the online portal or through a Demand Draft. Link to the Online Portal – here

The following documents shall be submitted by the teams at the time of registration:

  1. a) Duly filled registration form (available here).
  2. b) Certificate stating that the participants are bona fide students of the institution

(check brochure).

  1. c) Scanned copy of Demand Draft of registration fee/ Receipt of online payment.

  • Last date to register: 11:59 PM, December 28, 2019
  • Last date for seeking clarifications: December 2, 2019
  • Last date of Submission of memorials: 11:59 PM, January 5, 2020
  • Oral Rounds: March 13 – 15, 2020
