About the organisations

People’s Education Society was established in 1933 by the founding trustees of the society, Late Shri. S. K. Patil (eminent social leader), Late Charandas Meghji (industrialist) & Late Dr. D. N. Kale. The society was particularly established for the education of the children of mill-workers in the area of Lower Parel.

As a result of consistent efforts of social workers & personalities like Dr. H. J. Bhabha, Shri. B. H. Ranganekar, Prof. V. N. Hatey, Shri. Sayyad Munawwar etc. the society established two schools & later on a junior college as a further natural progressive step. The society has established Adv. Balasaheb Apte College of Law offering five years degree course and three years degree course.

About the competition

People’s Education Society’s Adv. Balasaheb Apte College of Law is proud to present the 7th  Annual Adv. B. P. Apte Memorial National Mock Trial, Moot Court and Judgement Writing Competition 2019.

Note: The team applying for Moot Court has to also participate for the Memorial National Mock Trial and Judgement Writing Competition 2019

This event is hosted in the fond memory of the Late Sr. Adv. Balwant Parshuram Apte (widely known as Adv. Balasaheb Apte) in order to commemorate his contribution towards the legal fraternity and also to further his dream of attracting law students
towards the actual practice of advocacy.

Eminent Judges, lawyers & academicians of the highest standing in India, converge to adjudicate the various rounds of the competition.

Scheduled from 20th – 22nd  September 2019.

Theme

This year, the subject matter of the Competition is ‘The Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985’.

The Preliminary round will be a Mock Trial based on the said Act and the Semi-Final and Final round shall involve a challenge to the Constitutional validity of the various provisions of the said Act.

Eligibility

This competition is open for all bonafide students (not above 25 years of age) pursuing the LL.B three years or five years course during the current academic year.

Registration procedure

Only 24 teams will be registered to participate in the competition on a first-come-first-serve basis. The Registration Form is given in the Rules and Regulations link below.

The participants shall register their entries by emailing the duly filled and scanned Registration Form (soft copy) on or before, 15th August 2019, from their college official email-id to mootabacl@gmail.com.

Thereafter, the participants shall receive an acknowledgement on successful submission of their registration.

The first 24 teams shall be receiving a confirmation mail on their selection for participation.

Participants receiving the confirmation of acceptance shall be expected to send the Registration Form (hard copy) along with the registration fees (latest by 21st August 2019).
