ASSOCIATE (PUBLIC AFFAIRS)

The National Law University, Delhi („University‟) is seeking to engage one Associate (Public Affairs) to work with and further the aims of the Centre on the Death Penalty.
About the Centre:
The Centre is established under the aegis of the University and was set up in August 2014 to undertake litigation, research and outreach relating to the death penalty.
Responsibilities:
A. Devise effective strategy to liaise with stakeholders within the judiciary, legislature, civil society, and other institutions working within the criminal justice system
B. Prepare policy briefs, communication materials and teaching modules on specific aspects of the law on the death penalty and criminal justice
C. Integrate the work of the Centre into a cohesive, effective strategy for disseminating information to relevant stakeholders
D. Organise training workshops and conferences for prison officials, judges, lawyers and others within the criminal justice system
E. Manage and administer research grants for specific projects within the Centre
F. Present the work of the Centre at appropriate fora.
G. Any other work that may be necessary to further the aims of the Centre.
Qualifications:
A. Graduate with a degree in law, public policy, economics, sociology, or any allied discipline.
B. Any previous policy work with an organisation or public representatives will be considered an advantage
C. Ability to read/ write/ speak regional Indian languages will be an advantage but is not mandatory.
Compensation:
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and will be approximately in the range of Rs. 45,000 – 55,000 per month.

The University reserves the right to conduct interviews and not fill these positions. The University will be unable to cover the costs for attending the interview but the possibility of a telephonic/video interview can be explored.
