The Global Peace Conference 2016 is the Second edition of the initiative taken by a group of students from KIIT, VIT & Ravenshaw University students along with other institutions in 2015. The Global Peace Conference is for a good social cause. It is an attempt to engage the students with global challenges, encourage them to think creatively with an international outlook to problem-solving.

In this session of the Global Peace Conference, we are simulating two councils, namely,

The United Nations General Assembly

and

The United Nations Human Rights Council.

There will also be a subsidiary body, the Press Corps popularly known as the International Press. The Press Corps will act as International Media covering the discussions and debates of the conference and publishing their reports in a daily Newsletter.

Like our last edition this year also we expect the delegate turnout demographic to consist of institutes reputed both nationally and internationally. In today’s world it is important for the youth to be aware of global issues and also be a force to reckon with when it comes to shaping up world policies. We are expecting 200 participants, at Global Peace Conference from prestigious colleges like VITUniversity, KIIT University, Ravenshaw University, NIT Rourkela, CET, OEC, IGIT Sarang etc. in addition to the student bodies of various Schools.

The theme for this conference shall be ‘Peace’.

It is a revolutionizing force that brings stability in the human civilization and myriad changes in the global arena. Where peace prevails, development finds its way. Peace is that priceless commodity without which the world would be filled with chaos and obscurity. The mere absence of peace can lead to disturbances like war. The destruction of life and property, the lamentation of victims as the aftermath of war is quite heart rendering. In today’s world, the race to attain power has led human civilization into a black hole devoid of peace and mirth. War is a common occurrence nowadays. So the big question is, “How could we, the youth, the stewards of the future generation and the stakeholders and the torch bearers of a modern civilization can bring a change and attain peace?” Every problem has a solution has a solution and the solution to this problem can be stated as:
                                        “Where diplomacy comes, Peace lingers.”
