DSNLU Visakhapatnam are organizing a 2-day national seminar on the theme of “Land, Records, and Rights: Laws, Governance, and Challenges,” scheduled to be held on February 19 and 20, 2023.

The venue of the seminar is Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, India. The Seminar is sponsored by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR)- Southern Regional Centre (SRC), Hyderabad, a premier institution established by the Government of India in 1969 to promote research in social science in the country.

The land is a source of life and livelihood and is used for multiple purposes. Displacement of people from their natural habitat and their disentitlement of land belonging to them takes place. With technological change, there are changes in the form of storing land records also. Digitization of land records is taking place while there is so much pressure on land. The objective of this seminar is to discuss the following issues;

  1. Constitutional Provisions, Doctrine of Eminent Domain: Issues and Challenges
  2. Modernization and Digitization of Land Records
  3. Agriculture, Land Entitlements, Tenurial Rights, and Laws
  4. Climate Change, Forest Laws, Carbon Sequestration and Sustainable Development
  5. Development, Displacement, Tribal Communities’ Rights and Rehabilitation
  6. Community and Legal Rights vis-a-vis Land: Doctrine of Public and Commons
