The National University of Juridical Sciences’ Society of International Law and Policy (‘SILP’) is an academic society dedicated to raising awareness of current international legal concerns. It aims to create a synergy between law and policy at the international level, while also acknowledging that geopolitical trends in the transnational area have an impact on local governments.

Concerning the Essay Competition

The 1st NUJS SILP Essay Competition offers cash awards, publication possibilities, and NUJS merit certificates to participants in this pan-India essay competition.

This essay competition aims to promote discussion on current issues in international law.

Eligibility

Open to undergraduate students in any course and post-graduate law students (LL.B/LL.M) from any accredited Indian university, college, or law school.

Co-authorship is allowed for up to two authors.

  • Communitarian Interest in International Law

Formatting Instructions

  • ‘Time News Roman’ font
  • 12 point font size
  • 1.5-inch spacing with a one-inch margin on all sides
  • A4 paper size, Minimum word limit is 2000 words.
  • 2500 words is the maximum word limit (excluding footnotes, kindly avoid using speaking footnotes)
  • OSCOLA 4th Edition citation style.
  • Font Size for Citation: 10
  • 1.0 spacing
  • Times New Roman is the font used for citations.
  • There should be no photos or other graphics in the essay, and it must be written entirely in English.

Submission Requirements

  • All submissions will be subjected to a rigorous plagiarism check on the internet.
  • Originality, application, and feasibility of the arguments/suggestions stated in the essay, as well as the amount of study, will be given special consideration.
  • The Society of International Law and Policy will own the copyright to the legislative draughts submitted by the participating teams. Furthermore, The Society of International Law and Policy will not be liable for any damage or harm incurred by any individual as a result of the content of the article submitted.
  • The decision of the Directors of the Society of International Law and Policy and the National University of Juridical Sciences will be final in the event of a dispute.
  • Each Team is responsible for ensuring that the “.docx” copy of the submission can be opened legibly with Microsoft Office 2010 or Microsoft Office 2007, and the “.pdf” copy of the submission can be opened legibly with Adobe Acrobat Reader.
  • The form will also ask for the participants’ names, phone numbers, email addresses, and the name of their college/ university, as well as the course they are taking and their year of study.

Dates to Remember

  • The topic will be released on December 15, 2021.
  • Essays must be submitted before January 31, 2022.
  • The deadline for announcing the results is March 1, 2022.

Prizes

  • 1st place: Rs 5,000 and a certificate of merit
  • 2nd place: Rs 3,000 and a certificate of merit
  • 3rd place: Rs 2,000 and a certificate of distinction
  • The top ten submissions will be featured on the SILP Blog or collected in a special edited edition.
