1st National Essay Writing Competition @ “The Law & Practice Blog”
Last date of registration: Jan. 02, 2018
“The Law & Practice Blog is pleased to announce its 1st National Essay Writing Competition.
Intellectual Property is still an emerging area, especially in India. The legal framework to regulate and protect various intellectual property rights in India has developed over past few decades. However, India still lacks a legislation to protect Trade Secrets , as mandated by TRIPS Agreement. At the same time, with advancement of information and communication technologies, India also needs provisions to give protection to data. Although the Government of India has published a white paper on Draft Data
Protection Law for India. However, such data protection legislations are generally understood to protect only the personal information of natural persons, leading to the conclusion that trade secrets of corporations still lack protection. The Indian IT Act, at present, also does not effectively deal with data protection of corporations.
There is an urgent need to fill the gap in this area of IPRs and cyber laws. It is an opportunity to contribute your knowledge and efforts, in the form of essays, for a toolkit for trade secrets and data protection in India. This is the motivation behind the The Law & Practice Blog’s 1st National Essay Writing Competition. We look forward to insightful and well informed entries.
