Who Is The Organiser?

Bennett University has been established by the “Times Group,” India’s largest media conglomerate, through Act
No. 24 of 2016 passed by the Government of Uttar Pradesh. The university at present offers unique
inter-disciplinary and contemporary courses through its Schools of Engineering and Applied Sciences,
Management, Law, and Media & Liberal Arts. In addition, the university has also established the Centers for
Innovation & Entrepreneurship and External Relation & Executive Education. Bennett University has excelled as

Bennett University established the School of Law with a vision to strive for excellence in teaching, research, and advocacy towards justice for all by shaping thought leaders in public policy of national and international dimensions. The school at present is offering B.A.LL.B. (Hons.), B.B.A.LL.B. (Hons.), LL.M., and Ph.D. programs, imbibing the best practices in terms of curriculum, pedagogy, and innovation in teaching methods. The Moot Court Committee is one of the most important and prestigious committees of the law school. It aims to create a professional skills culture among the students at the School of Law by training them for national and international moot court competitions. Moot court is a simulated court experience where law students argue hypothetical cases, analyze legal issues, and engage in legal research and advocacy. These competitions are designed to simulate appellate court proceedings, allowing participants to develop and showcase their skills in legal research, writing, and oral advocacy. It is often comprised of law school faculty, students, and sometimes legal professionals who volunteer their time and expertise to contribute towards the professional experience of law students. The committees aim to provide a platform for participants to refine their legal skills and gain practical experience in the field of law.

The theme for this competition is “International Criminal Law,” a multifaceted area that plays a pivotal role in maintaining peace, resolving conflicts, and upholding justice in the international arena. As a participant, one will have the opportunity to practise their advocacy abilities, solve practical legal problems, and learn about the nuances of international treaties, conventions, and case law. The 1st Bennett International Moot Court Competition, 2024 promises to be a trailblazing event that fosters intellectual growth, cross-cultural understanding, and a profound appreciation for the significance of international law.

What Are The Details Of The Event?

  • Theme: International Criminal Law
  • Date of the event: 05th – 07th April 2024.
  • Eligibility:
    • Only regular students enrolled in a five-year integrated undergraduate law program or three-year graduate law program are eligible to register for the competition.
    • Each team shall consist of two speakers and one researcher.
  • Registration Process and Payment:
    • Teams shall register for the competition on or before 23:59 Hours IST 31st January 2024, by sending an email with the subject ‘Registration for the 1st Bennett International Moot Court Competition 2024 to bnmcc@bennett.edu.in after completing the online registration form.
    • The registration fee for the competition for Indian Teams 7500/-INR and Foreign National Team is 100 USD and SAARC
    • Region is 50 USD per team (including accommodation on a sharing basis).
    • Accommodation and Food will be available at the university for three days i.e., 05th -07th April 2024. Any further extension beyond these dates will be chargeable.

    • Payment of Registration Fees:
      • A scanned copy of the Bona-fide Certificate of the Head of the Institution/Principal/Head of the Department/Dean certifying that the team consisting of the three members are bona fide students of the respective institution is to be uploaded through the online registration form.
      • Teams will be assigned a team code after registration. All communication thereinafter will be through the team codes, and teams are not to mention any other details to the Organizing Committee till the completion of the competition.
      • While filling out the Registration Form, the teams must choose a primary contact person, alternatively called a ‘Point of Contact’ (“POC”). All communications concerning the Competition will be sent by e-mail to the nominated contact person.

  • Prizes and Awards: Prizes will be awarded to the winners, including prize worth of Rs. 10,000.

    • Runner Up –₹ 40,000 or 480 USD (Approx.) & (A Trophy)
