WHAT:

Moot-Trial & Judgement Writing Competition

WHEN: 

Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd January, 2017

N.B.Thakur Law College,  Nashik

ABOUT:

Advocate D.T. Jaibhave Prathisthan, is a public trust founded by Adv.Jayant Jaibhave, Ex-Vice-Chairman, Bar Council of Maharashtra & Goa, and Member of Law Commission, Maharashtra, in the memory of his father Late Adv.D.T. Jaibhave, who was an eminent Advocate, practicing in the District Court, Nashik and who keenly contributed to deliver justice to the poor and needy litigants through trial. This is the first competition of its kind conducted with a motive to acquaint the students for conducting the trial and judgement writing.

We request you to send a team of 03 students for participating in the above competition. The problem and the rules are enclosed herewith. Participation of your esteemed Institution would be our privilege. We therefore, request you to send the confirmation letter along with duly filled application form enclosed, so as to reach us on or before 5th Jan. 2017 and to ensure that the written memorials reach us on or before 15th January, 2017.

Rules and Regulations for Competition

A) Eligibility & Registration:

1. Teams from Law Colleges recognized by the Bar Council of India will be eligible to participate in the competition.

2. The members of each team should be enrolled for undergraduate Law program either 3 year or 5 year Law course.

3. Each team shall pay registration fees of Rs.200/- by Demand Draft drawn in the name of “The Principal, N.B. Thakur Law College, Nashik.”

B) Composition of Team:

1. Each team shall comprise of 3 students. Two of them shall be Mooters and the third one shall Moot Judge.

2. One of the Mooter shall conduct trial on behalf of Plaintiff/Complainant/Petitioner, and the other shall conduct trial on behalf of  Opponent/Respondent.

3. The Moot Judge shall conduct the trial and participate in the Judgement Writing Competition.

C) Rounds:

1. The competition shall be conducted in two rounds, preliminary and final round.

2. Each team shall participate in the preliminary round.

3. The participating team may present either Moot Problem 1 or 2 for the preliminary round.

4. Only 4 teams will qualify for the final round.

5. Moot Problem 3 shall be presented by the qualifying teams in the Final round.

D) Language:

1. The participant may use any of the three languages;

a) English

b) Marathi

c) Hindi

Last Date for Registration : 5th January 2017

Last Date for Memorial Submission: 15th January 2017

Preliminary Round : 21st January 2017

Final Round:  22nd January 2017
